thing that caught my eye today: man in wheelchair with pseudo bike pedals attached to a handlebar, so he too could bike furiously down the road.
Today i got up late, very late. Ran to the city hall to announce my presence. There, the lady checked me in, made sure that I was living in a safe establishment and told me that a police officer would be by "soon" to verify that I was indeed living where I said I was. mmkay. I then took my rental agreement to the office of student affairs (everyone here seems to be very vested in knowing where specifically you are living).
Then I went grocery shopping. Which again sounds easy but is made complicated by the fact that the labels are in dutch (well, I hooope this is milk). I bought cold cuts, bread, toilet paper, fanta (de naranja!), cheese, yogurt and milk (i hope). oh and nestle 'fitness' cereal. niiiice. Then I walked my groceries home for 15 minutes (barbaric).
I got home and there was this chinese girl going in my front door. I thought to myself "hmm, maybe this is my new roomate, also a chinese girl". And it was! She is really nice and (but) studies theology. She has been here for 5 years and says that after year two the homesickness goes away. greaaaat.
She is moving in as I type. Now, I need to organize my papers and figure out what else I need to do (get a bank account etc) and then maybe go to the gym:)
